Simsbury’s State Representative John Hampton Seeks To Fill a HUMVEE To Help Homeless Veterans
State Representative John Hampton is inviting the public to join him in support of the less fortunate in our community – especially homeless military veterans.

When: Saturday, June 15, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Where: Fitzgerald’s Foods, 710 Hopmeadow Street
Rep. Hampton will be accepting donations for the South Park Inn homeless shelter in Hartford. The goal is to fill a Humvee with clothing, accessories and personal items for distribution to shelter residents. Cash donations will also be accepted. Current needs include:
- Flip flops - all sizes
- Laundry detergent
- Gift cards – Walmart, Target, Stop and Shop
- Mops/brooms/dust pans
- Men’s T-shirts and briefs – Large and XXL sizes
- Women’s briefs - Large- XXL
- Tub and Tile spray cleaner
Since 1984, the South Park Inn has helped the homeless improve their lives with safe, temporary and long-term housing and supportive services. The Inn works closely with the local, state and federal Veterans’ Administration to identify and place homeless veterans and connect them to housing, benefits, and support services. The shelter is located at 75 Main Street, Hartford.
