Route 10 Restaurant Expanding, Adding Package Store Next Door

A busy Route 10 eatery is expanding, and its owner has bought the adjacent building with plans to open a liquor store, the Hartford Courant reported.

Benny Gjonbalaj, owner of Benny’s, recently purchased the former Simsbury Bottle Shop at 562 Hopmeadow Street. He has begun a renovation project, and expects to have his restaurant expanded and the package store open sometime in November, the Courant said.

A liquor permit application was approved by Simsbury officials this summer; the owner is waiting for liquor permit approval from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.
