On Saturday, That Smoke May Be Part of the Plan, Not a Fire Emergency
From 8 - 11 a.m., Terry's Plain Rd. will have 1 lane of traffic; from 11- 2, the road will be closed to all traffic for the controlled burn.

An announcement from the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company on the Simsbury town government website:
FYI: On Saturday Oct. 18, if you see smoke, there is fire. But it’s a controlled burn. The Simsbury Fire Company will be conducting live fire training at Dewey Farm on Terry’s Plain Rd. on Oct. 18, 2014 (rain date Oct. 19, 2014). The department asks that every attempt be made to avoid the area with vehicle traffic to make for a safer environment for the firefighters.
The training is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day ending in the early afternoon. Smoke will be visible in the area. Residents that reside on Pinnacle Mountain Rd. may experience lower than normal water pressure as the department will be using the hydrant on the corner of Terry’s Plain Rd/Pinnacle Mountain Road during training.
