CRAFTING A CREATIVE BLOG
Find out what's happening in Simsburyfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
You’ve got a blog. You want to share your hobby, your passion, your story. But you’re uncertain how to write effective posts. You’ve got a camera and a vision for your photos. But when you shoot, the photos are washed out, or the background is distracting. You want your photos to POP with everything that makes your world special. You want web surfers to stop, and blog readers to return.
WEEK 1: This workshop will help you to build your description and storytelling dexterity in both photos and words, bolster your photography and writing confidence, and map out a plan for series of posts. Gain camera skills through a slide talk, demos, and hands-on shooting and practice making photos come to life. Fun writing exercises will challenge your ideas about writing and will culminate in a blog post ready to publish. Learn to really tell your story through images and words. Students may use their iphones/smartphones for photography or digital cameras. They should know their passwords, clear room for images in their device, and bring a cable (if needed) to transfer images to their laptop.
WEEK 2: Review and Feedback. Share your first posts with the group and get a sense of what’s working and how you might get even more savvy with your storytelling! Having problems with any of the tools learned in Week 1? Beverly and Gale will help you troubleshoot and get you ready to post on your blog consistently, artfully, and confidently.
Note: this workshop assumes that you have a blog set up
and know basic navigation of the dashboard.
