The Halloween forecast may be damp, but temperatures are expected to reach 60 degrees on Thursday, so we hope we're not tempting fate by posting a snapshot from the annual Tariffville Halloween Parade.
The weather was picture perfect for the Parade, where Jay DeVivo, Mary Glassman, Lisa Heavner and Shannon Knall had the rare opportunity to be photographed with none other than Sponge Bob Square Pants (much to the thrill of the young Knall boys, possibly the world's biggest Sponge Bob fans!)
Younger town residents may not remember a fair weather Halloween night, but here's to hoping! Looking for a backup plan? The Town of Simsbury will host a free town-wide Halloween celebration on Wednesday, October 30 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Simsbury Public Library, located at 725 Hopmeadow Street. Free admission includes a magic display, storytelling, trick-or-treating and more. Young residents can celebrate Halloween early by coming dressed in costume. In addition to a costume parade, guests of all ages will be entertained by Magic of Christopher, hear a Halloween story with one of Simsbury’s most entertaining librarians, decorate a personalized bag for trick-or treating, and then use it to collect goodies in the library.
The event is open to the public, and there is no charge for admission. In addition to all of the merriment, each child that comes dressed in costume will receive a coupon for a free kid’s scoop of ice cream, to be redeemed at J. Foster’s Ice Cream, located at 894 Hopmeadow Street.
This event is made possible by Simsbury Parks and Recreation, Simsbury Public Library Children’s Room, and Simsbury Social Services. For more information about this event, please contact Gerry Toner, Culture Parks and Recreation, at 860-408-4682.
