SHS Women’s Empowerment Club Aids Houston Women’s Shelter
Club holds feminine products drive to benefit hurricane victims

The Women’s Empowerment Club of Simsbury High School recently held a feminine products drive to benefit the Houston Area Women’s Center. The group’s goal was to help a population that was harmed by this year’s hurricane in Texas. The club’s mission is to improve the school climate, raise awareness of women’s social and political issues, and promote activism. In keeping with that mission, the members of the club sought to help a population that might be otherwise neglected during the challenges of rebuilding after the hurricane. Thanks to the support of the entire Simsbury High School community, three large cartons of feminine and toiletry products were recently shipped to the shelter.
