Citing warm weather and dry conditions, the town is asking people to keep an eye on water consumption.

SIMSBURY, CT — Dry conditions and hot weather this summer has local water company officials urging that Simsbury residents try and conserve water.
The Town of Simsbury Friday posted an alert on social media urging that folks try and limit water consumption if possible.
"Due to below average precipitation and high temperatures, Simsbury residents are reminded to be mindful of their water consumption and take steps to reduce water usage," wrote the town. "As a reminder, Aquarion’s twice-weekly irrigation schedule applies to Simsbury from April 1 through Oct. 31."

• Adjusting the mower to a higher setting. A taller lawn provides shade to the roots and helps retain soil moisture, so your lawn requires less water.
• Turning off the water while lathering up, shaving or brushing your teeth.
• Minimizing baths and the amount of water you use for each. Trim one minute off the length of your showers (you’ll save on your water-heating bills, too).
• Washing only full loads in your dishwasher and washing machine.
• Hand washing dishes in a pan or the sink, not under continuous running water.
