Simsbury Assisted Living Facility Official Earns Major Industry Honor

SIMSBURY, CT — Sophie Mitten, sales director at Skybrooke at Simsbury, has been named to the Senior Housing News Future Leaders Awards Class of 2026, the senior living community announced.

The Future Leaders Awards recognize professionals under age 40 who are making contributions to the senior housing, senior living and healthcare industries through leadership, innovation and industry impact.

Mitten joined Skybrooke at Simsbury as lead concierge before moving to the community's engagement and programming team.

She later transitioned into sales and now serves as sales director.

In her current role, Mitten works with seniors and their families as they navigate decisions about independent living, assisted living and memory care services.

The community said she focuses on helping families access information, resources and support during what can be a complex transition.

Mitten also works with individuals living with memory impairment and their caregivers and has been involved in efforts to raise awareness about senior living and memory care services in the Simsbury area.

Katie Lee, executive director of Skybrooke at Simsbury, said Mitten's ability to connect with families has been a key part of her success.

"One of Sophie’s greatest strengths is her ability to listen with empathy and intention," Lee said. "Through her thoughtful approach, she builds meaningful and lasting connections that foster trust and comfort during what can be a significant transition."

Skybrooke at Simsbury, operated by Northbridge Companies, offers independent living, assisted living and Avita Memory Care services.

The Senior Housing News Future Leaders Awards program honors emerging leaders from a range of sectors within the senior living industry.
