Board of Selectmen Meeting January 9, 2023

At the December 12, 2022 Board of Selectmen meeting many of the Board of Members orchestrated a vitriolic response to my Public Audience Comments against their policy not to respond to comments from the public.

All of this nonsense of attacking the messenger is more of the same tactics used to protect Town Manager Maria Capriola from public criticism.

When Town Manager Maria Capriola was called out for asking the past Town Planner to change a performance evaluation from excellent to poor to make a case for terminating an employee, the board was silent.

Truth to Power is always confrontational, it comes with the territory.

The first member of the Board of Selectmen to challenge my comments was First Selectman Wendy Macstutis, although she was aware that my comments were true after her alleged conversations with various members of the public.

First Selectman Wendy Macstutis, on December 12, 2022 during the Bike Ordinance Hearing allowed Jullian Caufield a student at Simsbury High School and is the daughter of Jenn Caufield, Chairman of the Police Commission was allowed to speak twice during the hearing when I was not allowed to speak twice at the Marijuana hearing when I asked to finish my comments at the end of the hearing comments.

First Selectman Wendy Macstituts has decided that some people have more weight than others, depending on connections with the political machines.

This is not equal justice for all as spoken at every meeting when pledging to the flag.

First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis receives $10,000 of tax dollars to represent all residents, not a special few.

First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis should not be nominated as First Selectman.

Board member Sean Askham is another political operative who will sell his sole to the devil if he could remain elected to the Board of Selectmen. Sean Askham, in an email to Town Manager Maria Capriola wrote, “you always make me look smart,” with his back door private conversations with Maria Capriola

Sean Askham has been privy to many issues in Town throughout his tenure and has knowingly voted against the truth.

Sean Askham should not be nominated to the Board of Selectmen.

Board member Eric Wellman is another political operative who has lied to the public and staff during his failed campaign for State Representative.

Eric Wellman held a Campaign Rally at the Simsbury Meadows without a Public Gathering permit, in violation of the policy that he approves for all organizations.

This is one of many Pinocchio’s he received with his false accusations.

At the November 28, 2022 Board of Selectmen meeting Eric Wellman was willing to come to the defense of Town Planner George Mc Gregor, without any investigations into my allegations that a large taxpayer, on a visit to Town Planner George McGregor’s office to discuss the situation at 442 Hopmeadow Street was asked to leave when George McGregor became unhinged.

Eric Wellman stated that he spoke to many stakeholders in the town and has had nothing but rave reviews on George McGovern’s professionalism.

Eric Wellman lost the election to the position of State Representative due to his failure to interact and converse with the large taxpayers in town.

Most of the signs, during Wellman’s failed campaign for State Rep. on the business community’s property were for Melissa Osborne due to his neglect to interact with business community. Another Pinocchio.

Eric Wellman should not be nominated to the Board of Selectman.

On December 12, 2022, the Board of Selectmen were given a submission, developed by Town Planner George McGovern to approve the revised job description of the Assistant Town Planner and Code Compliance Officer and

change the job title to Community Planner.

The summary states, “the purpose of the amendments, which are budget neutral as they do not propose any changes to step, grade, pay, are to allow more flexibility and functionality in duty assignment based on the experience and qualifications of Department Staff. “

This appears to be a Union labor violation and a substantive change to the job description.

Past Town Planners with professional knowledge of the community and State Law did not need any substantive changes to the job descriptions.

These changes to the job descriptions were instituted with the approval of Town Manager Maria Capriola to give cover to Town Planner George McGregor for his inadequacies, by passing the buck.

All these substantive changes were not given to the Union Rep. prior to being placed on the agenda for a vote.

This is another failure of management.
