Simsbury Boys and Girls Succeed at Cross Country Opener

Each team placed second at the Bob Haddad Invitational Saturday.

Simsbury High School got off to a strong start in the 2015 cross country season, with excellent performances at the 37th annual Bob Haddad Invitational in Windham Saturday.

The boys placed second of 21 teams, bested only by perennial power Glastonbury. Solomon Davis led the Trojans with a fifth-place finish, with Joseph O’Bryan (10th) and Michael Kokines (20th) also placing high in the 147-runner field.

On the girls’ side, Simsbury also finished second, trailing only two-time defending State Open and four-time defending Class M champion Tolland. Finishing in the top 25 of the 119-runner field were Maeve Daily (10th), Sarah Soja (17th) and Isabella Albani (23rd).

The Trojans open the CCC dual meet schedule by hosting Conard at Stratton Brook Park on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 3:45 p.m. Simsbury then hosts the annual Stratton Brook Invitational Saturday, Sept. 19, beginning at 9 a.m.
