Simsbury/Canton Police Seek Suspects In Simsbury Burglary

The incident, in which one accused suspect has been charged, happened in Simsbury with the escape vehicle found in Canton.

SIMSBURY/CANTON, CT — With one suspect in custody, a frantic search for two burglary suspects continues in Canton and Simsbury, with the suspects' vehicle found in Canton and the attempted home burglarly taking place in Simsbury.

The Canton Police Department reported late Monday morning that the suspects' vehicle was found behind a house under construction, with the suspects fleeing on foot.

Simsbury police, meanwhile, have identified the suspect in custody as being Crispulo Lizardo Olmos-Silva, 65.

The Simsbury Police Department said he has been charged with second-degree burglary and possession of burglar tools.

Simsbury police said he was to appear in Hartford Superior Court Monday and was being held on $250,000 bond.

According to the SPD, a resident called and reported an "active burglary" at their single-family home on School House Lane in Simsbury.

"Once the suspects were aware that the home was occupied, they fled the scene in a gold-colored vehicle," wrote the SPD.

Simsbury police said an officer encountered the vehicle, but lost sight of it as it went into nearby Canton.

"Area police departments were immediatelly notified of this crime and were provide a description of the suspect vehicle," wrote Simsbury police. "

Simsbury police said a Canton officer located the vehicle moments later on Red Fox Run in town, where the suspects were discarding items and changing their clothes.

A Canton officer, according to the Simsbury Police Department, was able to pursue the suspects and catch one, with two escaping.

That's when Simsbury police arrived and took Olmos-Silva into custody, Simsbury police said.

Canton police said they're assisting Simsbury in the probe, which started in Simsbury and ended in Canton.

"An extensive search was undertaken for the other two suspects," Canton police posted. "While there is no indication the suspects are still in the area, anyone living in the area of Gracey Road seeing or hearing anything suspicious is encouraged to contact the Canton Police Department."

Canton police said officers from all departments were tracking the suspects in the area of Gracey Road between Red Fox Run and Albany Turnpike.

Sunday afternoon, Canton police said the suspects are described as being two Hispanic males, one wearing a white shirt and another wearing a light green shorts and the other wearing a red shirt and gray shorts.
