St. Mary School In Simsbury Turns 65

The school was opened on Sept. 23, 1957.

SIMSBURY, CT — A local school celebrated a milestone anniversary last week, as St. Mary School in Simsbury celebrated 65 years of existence.

As a result, SMS students came outside Friday for the anniversary and posed for a special photo.

St. Mary is a Catholic school serving pupils from pre-K to eighth-grade and it first opened on Sept. 23, 1957, according to school officials

SMS is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Connecticut State Department of Education.

The school was also named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2018.
