Simsbury Community Band Has That Holiday Feeling
Celebrating its 50th year, the band is hosting its free Holiday Concert event on Sunday, Dec. 3.
SIMSBURY, CT — The Simsbury Community Band's annual Holiday Concert is always on locals' to-do lists every December.
But this year's event — slated for Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Covenant Presbyterian Church Barn, 124 Old Farms Road, Simsbury —is special.
That's because the Simsbury Community Band is celebrating not only the holiday season but its 50th-anniversary milestone this year.

A Farmington Valley institution, the band has been "bringing music" to the area since the 1970s and that will continue on Sunday.
Even better, the show is free, which in an age of expensive entertainment options during an expensive time of the year, is quite welcome.

Sunday's program will celebrate two classic American composers, Leroy Anderson and Aaron Copland.
In addition to music, the band will have commemorative wine and beer glasses, as well as Christmas ornaments, available for sale at the concert.
As for future events, the nonprofit, all-volunteer band is always looking for members and rehearsals are every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Simsbury.
