Simsbury crew was at the Exeter Invitational Saturday, April 23rd. Simsbury raced five boats, two girls and three boys. The weather was good, and they all raced hard on the 1500-meter course against tough competition.
There was a total of six competing teams. Besides Exeter and Simsbury, there was St. John’s. Shrewsbury, Boston Latin, and Hingham. Simsbury girl's first boat had a time of 5:25.0 in a valiant fight with Shrewsbury over the last 250 meters. The girl's second boat crossed the line at 5:58.6. The boys third boat finished with 5:49.4 and the boy’s second boat finished fourth with 5:14.2. Simsbury’s boy's first boat had a tight race, holding off a fast-charging St. Johns, and came in second with a time of 4:39.3. They were edged out by the commanding Exeter by 6 seconds.
Exeter won the overall event dominating most of the races. The race took place at Lake Quinsigamond in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
