This past Saturday, 13 May, the Simsbury Crew traveled to Lake Waramaug in New Preston, to compete in the Kent Invitational regatta. They raced 6 boats against teams from all across Connecticut. These teams were Salisbury, Brunswick, Kent, Hotchkiss and Farmington.
The racing conditions were less than perfect, with windy conditions and occasional gusts of wind making rowing along the 1.5 km course quite a challenge for the rowers. The girl’s 4th boat took the 4th spot, the girl’s 2nd boat came an impressive 3rd and the 1st boat achieved 5th place. The boy’s 4th boat came in 2nd, the boy's 2nd boat took 5th place and the 1st boat came in 6th.
On Sunday 21 May the Simsbury Crew will return to the picturesque Lake Waramaug to compete at the, much anticipated, Connecticut Public School Rowing Championships (CPSRA). Coaches, Ann Carabillo and Adam Askam, said this about the upcoming CPRSA, “We look forward to the state championships, where we will all show our hard work against other public schools in the league.”
