On Saturday, 11 May, the Simsbury Crew traveled to Lake Waramaug, in New Preston, to compete in the annual Kent Invitational regatta. The Simsbury Crew entered 6 boats to race against teams from all across Connecticut. These teams were Salisbury, Brunswick, Kent, East Lyme, Farmington, Hotchkiss and Sacred Heart.
After weeks of less than favorable weather, the conditions on race day were near perfect. The girl’s 3rd boat rowed well and claimed the 2nd place in their race and the girl’s 1st boat achieved 3rd place. Unfortunately, due to illness and injuries, the girl’s 2nd boat was unable to race. The boy’s 3rd and 4th boat took 4th place, the boy’s 1st and 2nd boats took the 5th spot in each of their respective races.
On Sunday,19 May, the Simsbury Crew will return to the beautiful Lake Waramaug to compete in the, much anticipated, Connecticut Public School Rowing Championships (CPSRA).
