Simsbury Crew Competes in the Quinsigamond Cup

On Saturday, 26 April, the Simsbury Crew travelled for the last time this season to Lake Quinsigamond, to compete in the Quinsigamond Regatta, commonly known as the Q-Cup. This regatta was hosted by St Johns. Simsbury raced 4 boys boats and 3 girls boats against 5 other schools, namely East Lyme, St John’s. Shrewsbury, Duxbur, Stonington and Brookline

The wind was better behaved, yet it rained consistently throughout the day. The Simsbury crew rowers and coxswains came prepared for the weather. The boats took on the 1500 meters course with tenacity, despite the less than agreeable conditions. The girl’s 3rd boat ended the race in an impressive 2nd place, the girls 2nd boat took the 4th spot and the girls 1st boat came in 5th. The boy’s 4th boat came claimed 2nd place, and the boys 3rd, 2nd, and 1st boats all took 4th place in their respective races.

The Simsbury Crew will be spending both this week and next working hard to prepare for their next regatta on Saturday,10 May. They will be traveling to the picturesque Lake Waramaug, to compete in the Kent Invitational.
