Simsbury Crew Holds its Annual Banquet

On Sunday, June 4, the Simsbury crew students, coaches, and their families all gathered together at Simsbury High School to share a meal, celebrate an awesome year of rowing and bid farewell to their seniors and to one of their beloved coaches, Paul Carabillio, who is retiring.

The team congratulated their seniors Madison DeGroot, Aaron Harris, Nelson Perry, Anthony Shaw and Luke Williams on their commitment and dedication to the team, and bid them farewell and all of the best for the next chapter in their lives.

Coach Paul Carabillo has been part of the rowing community since 1971 and has been a Simsbury Coach for the past ten years. In his time coaching Simsbury rowers he has been the Novice Boys coach, Junior Varsity Boys and Girls coach as well as Head Girls Coach. Paul plans to spend his retirement doing what he loves, watching rowing. He will still be involved as a referee, will be out on his scull enjoying the quiet mornings on the water as well as continuing to lend his expert eye at crew practices and making sure the boat house is kept in pristine condition.

The Novice Girls Award was presented to Heather Foley, the Most Improved Awards went to Hannah Shlosser and Andrew Orosz, the Exemplary Awards were awarded to Ava Dunn and Henry Schuck and The John Paul Vincent Award went to Brandon Capalbo. The David Godfrey Memorial Scholarship Award was presented to Nelson Perry and the Alumni Scholarship Award was awarded to Anthony Shaw.

The Simsbury Crew Boathouse will not be closed all summer, as the Annual Summer Crew Camp will be taking place from July 10th. Registration can be found online at the link below.
