Simsbury Crew Lends Muscle to Library Book Sale

Athletes Move Boxes to Support Friends of the Simsbury Public Library

Simsbury Crew’s varsity and junior varsity athletes helped the Friends of the Simsbury Public Library get ready for their annual Giant Used Book Sale, which took place September 22nd and 23rd at Simsbury High School.

Throughout the summer, the Friends had collected books, games, puzzles, DVD’s, CD’s and more from the community, sorting items into various categories and boxing them up to be moved. The Simsbury Crew team then stepped in to move the books from the library to the high school, loading hundreds of boxes onto moving trucks at the library and then meeting the trucks at the high school to unload. More than fifty athletes moved five truckloads over the course of an afternoon, with the girls’ team managing the early shift and then handing over to the boys’ team later in the day.

Simsbury Crew has assisted with moving books for the library over 20 years and is pleased to contribute to the success of the annual book sale. Proceeds from the sale are used to support the many programs, services and activities funded by the Friends of the Simsbury Public Library.
