Simsbury Crew Participates in the Exeter Invitational Regatta

On Saturday 20 April, the Simsbury Crew travelled back to Lake Quinsigamond, in Worcester, Massachusetts, to compete in the Exeter Invitational, which was hosted by Shewsbury and St John’s. They raced against 6 other schools: Exeter, Shrewsbury, Hingham, Kent, Boston Latin and St Johns.

The weather was remarkably kinder than on the previous Saturday’s regatta, with a light cross-tailwind blowing.. The Simsbury Crew boats gave it their all as they rowed the 1.5 km course. The girls 3rd boat ended the race in 5th place, the girls 2nd boat achieved 4th place and the girls 1st boat took the 6th spot in their race. The boys 4th boat came in 4th, the boys 2nd boat finished the race in 6th place and the boys 1st boat fought hard to the end and just lost 4th place to St John’s by a split second.
Tomorrow, 27 April, the Simsbury Crew, will travel back one last time this season to Lake Quinsigamond to participate in the annual Quinsigamond Regatta, better known as the “Q Cup”.
