Simsbury Crew Welcomes Fall Rowing Season

Practices Begin August 19

Simsbury Crew has announced that Fall practice for Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Novice high school rowers and coxswains will begin on Monday, August 19 at the Paine Boathouse and run all week from 9–11:30 am. Practice on Saturday, August 24 will be at Simsbury Farms. The team is welcoming new athletes and encourages anyone who is interested but who cannot make it to these early practices to join when they return, and to contact the coaches with any questions at simsburycrew@att.net.

The Paine Boathouse is ready to accommodate a busy Fall season, after playing host to several programs and initiatives throughout the summer. These included both morning and evening high school conditioning and technique camps, morning and afternoon learn-to-row camps, and extensive volunteer clean-up efforts focused on the boathouse, equipment, and grounds. The team is pleased that dozens of new and returning athletes found their way to the boathouse this summer to enjoy some time on the water, work on physical conditioning, and help with summer maintenance tasks.

Simsbury Crew is looking forward to a challenging Fall race season which will include participation in the Head of the Riverfront Regatta in Hartford on October 6, the New England Junior & High School Regional Championship Regatta in Worcester, MA on October 13, the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga, NY on October 27, and the Pumpkinhead Regatta in Farmington on November 2.
