Simsbury DPW Cracks Open Books For Local Children
The town's public works department hosted the Simsbury Public Library's regular Story Town program on Wednesday.

SIMSBURY, CT — The town's public works department is where roads get plowed, potholes get filled and roadways/sidewalks get fixed.
But on Wednesday, the Simsbury Department of Public Works was where the hard-working men and women of the DPW opened books and enjoyed some time with local children.
Wednesday, the Simsbury Public Library's regular Story Town program, where guests read to children, didn't take place in the air-conditioned comfort of the library.

It took place in the DPW garage in Simsbury, located at 66 Town Forest Road.
There, local children and their families enjoyed time touring the facility and, even, checking out the massive vehicles used to keep local roads passable.

And, of course, they were read to, with Simsbury Public Works Director Tom Roy even cracking open a book and capturing the children's attention.
The event drew about 60 people and it was quite enjoyable for both attendees and the DPW employees who enjoyed a rather different workday than normal.
"Thank you to all who attended," wrote the DPW. "We're so happy we could spend some time with you today."
