SIMSBURY, CT — The local finance board Tuesday evening will host a public hearing on a proposed $1.8 million appropriation to supplement an already approved $36.7 million school expansion project.

The Latimer Lane School building expansion was approved in May 2021.

But, since then, various issues have arised resulting in cost overruns (ie. supply chain issues and post-pandemic inflation), resulting in the need for another appropriation and referendum.

The hearing is at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Simsbury Public Library's Tariffville Room, 725 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury.

In addition, the hearing is expected to deal with an appropriation of state and federal grant funding for three infrastructure projects that fund sidewalks and multi-use paths in town.

Interested persons will be heard in regard to the additional appropriations.

Plans call for a referendum vote in January on the appropriations.
