Simsbury Fire District President Kevin North Resigns
Gary Wilcox, who was vice president of the board, replaces him.

An announcement, dated Tuesday, Dec. 9, on the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company website:
To all employees of the Simsbury Fire District, members of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company, Ladies Auxiliary, Honorary Life and Honorary members.
President Kevin North, at last evening’s District meeting, announced his retirement from the Fire District. While it had been Kevin’s plan to retire by the end of this current term the timetable was accelerated by his good fortune in the sooner than expected sale of his Simsbury home.

In accordance with our by‐laws the vice president assumes the duties of the president for the remainder of the term and that action was accepted by the board.
I would like to thank Kevin for his 37 years of service to the Simsbury Fire Company and the Simsbury Fire District. His leadership has directed the actions of the Fire District through many years of budget processes, truck and equipment purchases and the modernization of each and every firehouse in Simsbury.

We wish Kevin the very best in his retirement, his presence and leadership will be greatly missed. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the Simsbury Fire District in this new capacity as president.
Although I have some very large shoes to fill I am confident that my efforts along with the teamwork and assistance from the rest of our board will continue the tradition of exceptional fire protection and emergency services to the citizens of the Town of Simsbury.
