Simsbury Fire Official Killed in Crash
The accident happened early Sunday morning in Bloomfield, according to police.

SIMSBURY, CT — The deputy chief of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company was killed in a single-car crash in Bloomfield early Sunday morning, according to Bloomfield police.
Michael Jepeal, 63, was driving a Nissan Maxima around 5 a.m. Sunday when his car crashed into a rock formation in the median between Route 187 south and Route 189 north. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Capt. Stephen Hajdasz said.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, Hajdasz said.

The fire company reported Jepeal's passing on its Facebook page, which has received more than 140 comments in less than 24 hours. Among them are:
