Simsbury First Selectman: Mackstutis Cruises To Second Term
Simsbury First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis easily won a new term, nearly getting 60 percent of the vote in the process.

SIMSBURY, CT — A long night ended with the incumbent Democratic first selectman easily winning another term as the town's top elected official.
According to the Connecticut Secretary of the State's office's unofficial vote totals, Democratic incumbent Wendy Mackstutis easily defeated Republican challenger Kevin Beal, 4,417-2,976.
She earned nearly 60 percent of the vote, according to final voter tallies.

First elected to the Simsbury Board of Selectmen in 2019, Mackstutis then followed up that term by being elected Simsbury's top elected official in 2021.
She is a retired information technology director in the insurance industry.

Beal, a Republican who has managed nonprofits for 17 years, originally hails from Vermont and has served as a selectman in Northfield, Vt.
He was also appointed by the Vermont governor to serve on a gubernatorial committee that deals with employing people with disabilities.
