Simsbury Girl's Love For Disabled Brother Inspires: Report
The 6-year-old's quest to have a special swing installed at a local playground for him earned her a WFSB Channel 3 'Great Kids' segment.
SIMSBURY, CT — The Town of Simsbury summed up a special story involving one local family best in referencing a WFSB Channel 3 "Great Kids" segment on Wednesday.
"You are going to need some tissues for this story," wrote the town.
That's because the uplifting feature is about the Fredricks family, specifically 6-year-old Whitney Fredricks' quest to help her disabled younger brother, Alex, gain access to a playground at Weatogue Park.

According to town officials, Simsbury Culture, Parks & Recreation Department Director Tom Tyburski is working with this family to install an ADA "expression swing" at Weatogue Park.
"This is the first step in putting a new, more accessible, playground there later this year or early next spring, so everyone can enjoy the outdoors in Simsbury," wrote Simsbury officials via social media.
