Simsbury Girls Move Up in Basketball Poll

SIMSBURY, CT — A season-opening streak of 12 straight victories has pushed the Simsbury High School girls basketball team further up in the weekly poll of coaches and media members.

The Trojans (12-0) advanced a spot to fourth in the most recent balloting after big wins over Granby and Glastonbury last week. Simsbury has games at Maloney and SMSA and a home matchup with Manchester on this week's schedule.

Mercy (11-0) captured eight of 14 first-place votes to lead the rankings outright for the second straight week. New London (12-0) garnered the other six top spots to place second.

Here are the top 10, plus all other schools to receive votes, with records through Jan. 21:
