Buzz Over To Simsbury Farms To Celebrate Golf Course
The town-owned golf facility will celebrate 'Buzz Day' with a plethora of guests and activities, courtesy of the Friends of Simsbury Farms.
SIMSBURY, CT — Folks hearing a buzzing sound at the Simsbury Farms Golf Course next week should be wary of any stinging insects coming out for fall,.
But the buzz after the Labor Day holiday just might be the sound of a special event to celebrate the town-owned facility.
The Friends of Simsbury Farms is hosting "Buzz Day" on Tuesday, Sept. 5., at the golf course, which is located at 100 Old Farms Road, Simsbury.

The all-day event will be broadcast on Simsbury Community Television (SCTV) public access and Youtube channel and its goal is to promote what's happening at the town attraction.
All sorts of contests, interviews and programs are planned for the day.

Among them are:
• A social media contest where, all day, folks can post on the Friends of Simsbury Farms Facebook page and be eligible for a $25 Gift Card (one selected randomly).
Participants are asked to post about what they love best about "The Farms" at the
• From noon to 12:45 p.m., the celebration will be broadcast live on SCTV (Channel 95), or stream on Simsburytv.org or youtube.com/simsburytv/live.
Watch for the word of the day on the broadcast. The first person to email the word of the day wins a $25 gift card. Email to: info@friendsofsimsburyfarms.com before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
• All day: post your old photos from Simsbury Farms. If there are 20 posts, one photo will be chosen and they will win a $25 gift card.
Also planned are: golf tips from course pros; Simsbury First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis discussing the course's local impact; Simsbury Parks and Recreation Director Tom Tuburski will speak; Simsbury Farms Superintendent Brian Johnson will discuss course improvements; and Friends of Simsbury Farms President Gerry Toner will talk about the organization.
