The executive committee of the SRTC has had several recent conference calls to discuss the recent vote of the selectmen and the first selectman’s response. These party leaders will be bringing forward one or more proposals to the entire Republican town committee for discussion.
“As the people of Simsbury know, the Republican selectmen were split on this issue,” Askham said in announcing the special meeting.

“I, for one, voted against the salary adjustment. I understand the objections of my colleagues to paying a public servant for duties that have already been shifted to other town staff. However, I felt that this short-term problem did not outweigh the larger longstanding tradition against mid-term salary changes.
“It is important that the entire Simsbury Republican town committee have a chance to meet and weigh in on these issues as full group.”
Askham also announced that the Simsbury Republican Town Committee will hold a press conference on Friday. It will be held at the Program Room of the Simsbury Public Library beginning at 3:30 p.m.
At that time, the Simsbury Republicans will address the public concerning their actions at the special meeting.
The Simsbury Public Library is located at 725 Hopmeadow St.
