Simsbury Has Champions at Indoor Track Championships
The CIAC indoor track and field championships were conducted Thursday through Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Led by three event champions and three other placewinners, Simsbury High School turned in a third-place team showing in the CIAC Class L girls indoor track and field championships at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.
The Trojans compiled 46 points, just one behind runnerup Guilford. Windsor won the title with 62 points.
Dinedye Denis was a double winner for Simsbury, capturing the 55 meters in 7.31 seconds and the 300 meters in 40.78 seconds, while Elsa Martin prevailed in the 600 meters with a time of 1:40.44.

The Trojan boys had a pair of placewinners in the Class LL competition.

Girls
- 2nd - 4 x 400 relay
- 3rd - 4 x 800 relay
- 5th - 4 x 200 relay
Boys
- 2nd - Jonathan Prell, shot put
- 6th - Solomon Davis, 1600 meters
The championships were held Thursday through Saturday: Class L on Thursday, Class M on Friday and Classes LL and S on Saturday. Click the class headers for complete results.
The State Open will also take place at the Floyd Little Athletic Center on Saturday, Feb. 17.
