I don't know about you, but I have been doing some focused, coupon driven, mathematically challenging holiday shopping over the weekend and I think I am making out like a bandit. Just to give you something to aspire to, I am including a picture of my holiday red patent leather shoes that were a Simsbury steal. I can't reveal their source, because they were one in a million, but here are five things to do in five days in Simsbury that sound pretty good about now.
Monday 12/6 is a good time to start your day off by going to the Valley Yoga and Healing Center of Simsbury website www.thevalleyyoga.com and click on their "Home Yoga Practice" button. They have a great 5 to 10 minute suggestion for an at home yoga practice that will inspire you to stay grounded for this day's challenges. You may also get an idea for your own gift list if you try one of their complimentary first classes.
Tuesday 12/7 remember Pearl Harbor Day by watching Tora Tora Tora: The Real Story of Pearl Harbor at 4 pm on the History Channel while you write your holiday cards before it is too late and they become New Year's cards, like mine will be.

Wednesday 12/8 for the total bargain price of $45 to the Simsbury Department of Continuing Education (www.simsbury.k12.ct.us) take a bus at 7:30 am from Iron Horse Blvd to NYC for the day. Call 860-651-2903 for more information and keep your eyes peeled for Brad and Angelina who were spotted already in the city with the twins. I bet Angelina will be promoting The Tourist which opens on Friday, December 10th.
Thursday 12/9 Santa Claus will pay a visit to the Simsbury Public Library 10:30-12 for his own paparazzi session with parents taking pictures of their children with him. Drop in and the Simsbury Junior Women's Club www.simsburyjuniors.org will provide a fun and free craft session for the kids while you wait for your turn.

Friday 12/10 grab a coupon (got mine in the Hartford Courant) for a free cup of Newman's Own coffee at McDonald's so you can stay up and go see some live folk, rock, blues music with Jeremy Wallace at our very own Old Well Tavern in Simsbury. Go ahead and pull out those patchwork denim jeans and red lipstick because the eighties are back and somebody needs to show our kids how it is done.
