Simsbury High School Briefly Placed In "Lock Out" Mode
A vague threat posted on social media prompted action by police and school officials.

SIMSBURY, CT — Simsbury High School was briefly placed in "Lock Out" mode Thursday morning following a vague threat posted on social media.
Around 7:30 a.m., the Simsbury Police Department was alerted to the threat, possibly related to the high school, by several students who alerted the School Resource Officer and school staff upon their arrival to school. The threat was not specific to Simsbury schools and was vague in its content, Capt. Nicholas Boulter said.
"The school and police worked together to ensure the safety of students during this incident and as a precaution, the high school activated a “Lock Out” procedure," Boulter said. "Additional uniformed officers were present in the building and on the grounds during this time."

It has been determined that the social media posting was part of a nationwide hoax facilitated using social media throughout the country, Boulter said.
