Simsbury High School Grapplers Qualify for State Open

The Trojans had an individual champion and three other placewinners at the Class L championships.

BRISTOL, CT — A quartet of wrestlers from Simsbury High School will be competing in the State Open next weekend, following impressive performances in the Class L championships at Bristol Central High School.

The Trojans had an individual champion and three other placewinners, finishing sixth in team competition with 113 points.

For the first time since 1996, Bristol Eastern won the Class L title, edging New Milford by a 231-230 margin. Daniel Hand was third with 143.5 points.

The State Open will begin Friday, Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
