Simsbury High School To Host Mobile Icewater Plunge For Special Olympics
The event will take place on Thursday, March 12, to raise funds for Special Olympics Connecticut athletes.
SIMSBURY, CT — Students and community members will take the plunge into icy water at Simsbury High School next week to support athletes with Special Olympics Connecticut.
The Mobile Penguin Plunge is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, at Simsbury High School, 34 Farms Village Road.
Registration begins at 4:30 p.m., with the plunge set for 5 p.m.

Organizers say the event will raise funds for nearly 14,000 athletes across the state who train and compete year-round through Special Olympics Connecticut.
The Mobile Penguin Plunge brings a portable plunge pool to schools and workplaces, allowing participants to jump into cold water as part of a fundraising effort.

Participants can register individually or join teams representing schools, businesses, clubs or community organizations.
Several Simsbury High School groups are expected to participate, including Unified Sports, Music and Performing Arts, the Simsbury Police Cadets, Best Buddies, Trojan Wall, and the Class of 2028.
Athletic teams such as Simsbury Rugby, Field Hockey, Girls Lacrosse, and Track and Field are also involved.
Participants who raise at least $150 will receive an exclusive Penguin Plunge incentive on the day of the event, with additional rewards available at higher fundraising levels.
Organizers say the event is designed to build community and promote inclusion while supporting athletes of all abilities.
Residents can participate by registering to plunge or by donating to support the fundraising effort.
