Simsbury High School Wrestler Brings Home State Open Championship

A Trojan grappler won his weight class at the CIAC State Open Saturday in New Haven.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Simsbury High School had a wrestler claim a state championship at the CIAC State Open Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

Maximus Konopka scored a 10-0 major decision victory over Brayden Soleau of East Lyme/Norwich Tech to win the state crown at 190 lbs.

The Trojans compiled 80.5 points to place seventh in team competition, which was won by Xavier for the fourth straight season.
