The Tony Award-winning musical ran on Broadway from 1950-1953 and has since met with critical acclaim in several revivals in theater and film.

This beloved romantic comedy is an adaptation of author Damon Runyon's short stories "The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown" (1933) and "Blood Pressure."

Guys and Dolls tells the hilarious misadventures of gangsters, gamblers, and missionaries in the
hustle and bustle of 1950s New York City.

At the heart of the show unfolds the unlikely romance between an urban missionary and a high-stakes suave gambler.

The show’s second romantic storyline involves a prolonged engagement between a down-on-his-luck floating craps game organizer and the lead performer at the Hot Box Nightclub.

Musical hits like “Bushel and a Peck”, “Luck be a Lady,” and “Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat” are seamlessly woven into the show.

The Simsbury High School Guys and Dolls company (cast/crew/pit) of over 100 students has
rehearsed for 12 weeks with their new theater director, Katrina Stodd Knapp.

“I’m thrilled to be directing a classic show near and dear to my heart in my first artistic adventure at SHS," said Stodd Knapp. “Like all fables, this story has a larger idea for us to consider. What if we remove the judgments we put on ourselves and on each other, and instead become acquainted with the person behind the label? We might like them, root for them...even fall in love.”

Simsbury High School’s new Music and Performing Arts Department Head Lisa Abel said “Guys and Dolls is truly a collective effort that brings together the diverse talents of our students and staff, creating a show that reflects the heart and soul of our department."

Guys and Dolls will be performed at 7 p.m. during most shows.

There will, however, be 2 p.m. matinees on Sunday, Feb. 4, and Sunday, Feb. 11.

Tickets for "Guys and Dolls" are available via online only.

Ticket prices are: Adults: $18; Student/Senior Citizens: $15; Children 6 & under: $6 (Processing fees will apply to all orders).
