Lunar New Year is astronomically the first new moon of the lunar calendar and, this year, it falls on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
Lunar New Year is often associated with China, but it is also widely celebrated in other Asian cultures like South Korea and Vietnam.
Freemantle said her goal is to raise awareness about the Lunar New Year and address underrepresentation in the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
The event will feature food from various local restaurants, as well as cultural presentations by Freemantle, students, the school's resource officer, and others in the community.
The fee is only $5 per person, with proceeds being donated to the Asian Pacific American Coalition of Connecticut (APAC).
Guests are asked to RSVP via a QR code associated with the flyer (below) or via email at freemantlehailey@gmail.com.
