Frank Talk Planned At Simsbury Library On Teen Domestic Violence

February is national Teen Domestic Violence Month.

SIMSBURY, CT — With February being designated as "Teen Dating Violence Month," the Simsbury Public Library Monday is hosting a special program targeting the issue.

Connecticut's Interval House, an agency dedicated to combating domestic violence, is hosting a forum Monday, Feb. 6, on teen domestic violence.

It will take place at the Simsbury Public Library's Tarriffville Room, 725 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The free event will feature food and beverages for attendees.

It is being sponsored by the Simsbury Department of Community and Social Services' Youth Services Bureau and the Simsbury Public Library.

Teens and parents are invited to attend and they'll be able to listen to presentations regarding "red flags" regarding relationship-based domestic violence.

Registration for the event is encouraged via scanning a QR code on the library's website or, simply, visiting the website and filling out an online form.

"Some might say that healthy relationships involve lots of compliments and affection, and they do, but one in 10 high school students has been purposely hit, slapped or physically hurt by a boyfriend or girlfriend," reads a library description of the event.
