Simsbury Library Unveils New, Improved Summer Reading Program
The program kicked off Monday, June 19, and continues through August with new prizes, raffles and challenges.
SIMSBURY, CT — School is no longer in session and summer is officially upon local students.
But it doesn't mean an end to knowledge and the Simsbury Public Library's Summer Reading Program officially kicked off on Monday to help local youths battle the summer learning gap.
The program continues throughout the warm-weather months, ending on Aug. 12.

In between, residents and students can register online with the library, which is located on 725 Hopmeadow Road, that will allow readers and the library to keep track of what books are being read.
Then, prizes will be given out weekly to various age groups for those who meet various "challenges."

"This summer we have a new software that makes it easier than ever for you to sign up and log your reading," wrote the Simsbury Public Library in a program announcement.
Adult prize packs feature an array of notebooks, stickers, pens and "Washi" tape.
Children's prizes include bubble popper toys; a July 4 pass to Memorial Pool; Connecticut Sun basketball tickets; and freebie treats from area eateries, among others.
In addition to challenge prizes, participation qualifies adults and youths alike for a series of gift card raffles at 16 different businesses.
The Summer Reading Program is offered in partnership with the Simsbury Public Schools and is sponsored by the Friends of the Simsbury Public Library.
