Simsbury Man Wins Large Powerball Payout

A trip to a local store resulted in a significant cash win on Tuesday.

SIMSBURY, CT — A local man walked into a Simsbury supermarket Tuesday and walked out significantly richer after purchasing a winning Powerball ticket.

While the man didn't win the big Powerball payout, he did win $50,000 for the multi-state drawing game.

According to the Connecticut Lottery Corp., the winning ticket was purchased Tuesday at the Simsbury Big Y World Class supermarket at 1313 Hopmeadow St.

The Powerball jackpot now stands at $1.2 billion, which is far less than the $50,000 won in Simsbury.

But, given that the drawing game costs $2 to play with $1 add-ons, it was still a nice investment for this man.
