
Charles Mitrik, 75, of Simsbury, passed away at home on December 26, 2017 while surrounded by his family.
He was born in NYC, New York on January 17, 1942, son of the late Charles Mitrik and Mary (Guty) Mitrik, and moved to Naugatuck during his early life. After graduating from Naugatuck High School, Charles immediately enlisted in the US Air Force and honorably served during the Vietnam Era.
Charles gained employment with Timex Corporation after his military service and worked as a Computer Programmer. During his time at Timex Corporation in Middlebury, Charles took advantage of education benefits received while in the service and graduated from Post University earning a bachelor's degree in business. He retired during the mid-nineties after 30 years of exemplary service leaving more time to pursue his two greatest hobbies, gardening and antiquing.

Charles lost his loving wife of 45 years, Joanne Mitrik, in 2012. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Mitrik and his wife Jill of Thomaston; two daughters, Tracy Slattery and her husband Joseph of Simsbury and Catherine Wolko and her husband Glenn of Watertown; a sister Eileen Dratt; 5 grandchildren, Matthew, Kristen, Devon, Katelyn, and Justin; a great-granddaughter, Riley.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. in Simsbury Cemetery, Plank Hill Rd., Simsbury. His family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. at Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby.
