Simsbury Obituary: Dorothy Baldis, 89

Condolences to her family and friends.

Dorothy (Lauriguet) Baldis, 89, of Granby, formerly of Simsbury, beloved wife of Charles Baldis, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at her home.

She was born September 10, 1926 in Berwick, PA to the late Gustave and Ethel (Peterman) Lauriguet. Charles and Dorothy moved to Simsbury in 1962 where they raised their family. She had loved golfing, bowling and once their kids had grown, traveling – especially cruises. She was an avid reader and loved her cats and dogs but enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband of nearly 69 years, she is survived by her children, Barbara Wilson of Simsbury; Charles J. Baldis and his wife Janet of Slovakia; Gary Baldis and his wife Beth of North Granby; Jim Baldis and his wife Anne of Simsbury; Sue Carpenter and her husband Kevin of Fayetteville, AR; as well as 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Lauriguet and her grandson, Brandon Wilson.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 2, 11 a.m. at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. Burial will follow in Simsbury Cemetery. Dorothy’s family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
