
Edna Louise Rowe Petersen, 87, of West Hartford, cherished wife of Robert E. Petersen for 45 years peacefully passed away surrounded by her devoted husband and family on January 12, 2018.
Born in Simsbury on October 11, 1930, she graduated from Simsbury High School and was a secretary for many years before she found her niche as an office manager of a dental practice where she was fondly known as “Super” for over 20 years. Edna was also a founding member of Grace United Church in East Farmington and was a past president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the East Farms Volunteer Fire Department.
Besides her loving husband, Edna is survived by her children, Darryl Swain Haberern of Canton; Darcy Swain Mantel of Bow, New Hampshire; and Darren “Duke” Swain and his wife, Keiko, of Mableton, Georgia. Edna was affectionately known as “Mimi” and is also survived by her five grandchildren: Jamie K. Haberern, Cameron Mantel and his wife Gina, Gabrielle Mantel, Ryan Swain and Toni Swain. Edna was fortunate to meet her only great-grandson Nicholas at Christmastime before her passing.

Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Saturday (Jan. 27) from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. followed by a brief service in the funeral home.
