Simsbury Obituary: Jane Brownlie, 100

Condolences to her family and friends.

Jane Amelia “Mimi” Bartlett Brownlie, 100, of Tariffville, wife of the late Richard Gilbert Brownlie, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Mimi was born July 5, 1915 in Hagerstown, MD, daughter of the late Warren and Ruth (Foltz) Bartlett. She lived in Putnam for many years prior to moving to Tariffville 20 years ago, where she lived with her daughter Jo Ann “Shorty” Baker. Jane taught first grade at Israel Putnam Elementary School for 30 years before retiring. She enjoyed doing crafts, cooking, crossword puzzles, word searches, gardening, bird watching and most of all, spending time with her family.

Mimi is survived by her two daughters, Judith B. Swafford (James) of Duncanville, TX and Jo Ann Baker of Tariffville; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Jane was predeceased by two daughters, Jane B. Sadler and Jill B. Bergeron.

Mimi has a great sense of humor and was much loved and respected by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
