
June Feiker Sherman, 93, of Weatogue, died on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 after a brief illness.
She was born on July 19, 1922 in Northampton, MA, the daughter of George and Viola (Martin) Feiker. She graduated from the Paul Junior High School and the Central District of Columbia High School (now known as the Cardozo High School) in Washington, D.C. She was an accomplished equestrian and President of the Marksmanship Club that practiced in the basement of the high school. She received her baccalaureate degree in 1943 from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, NC and received her Master's Degree from Teachers College Columbia University in New York, NY. She taught English at St. Mary's Episcopal School for Girls in Garden City, NY, where she met and married her husband Dr. Stephen Huntington Sherman in 1948.
She and her husband lived in Staten Island, NY and in Portland, Oregon before moving to Simsbury, where Dr. Sherman had a practice in psychiatry. Mrs. Sherman taught Honors English classes at Windsor Locks High School for many years before retiring.

Mrs. June Sherman was pre-deceased by her husband Stephen, George Feiker, her brother, the Rt. Rev. Jonathan G. Sherman, her brother-in-law, and his wife Frances LeBaron Christabel Casady Sherman, her sister-in-law, and their son Jonathan G. Sherman, Jr. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Hazel Feiker (Niskayuna, NY), and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews from the Sherman and Feiker families. Surviving from the Sherman Family: Thomas O. Sherman, nephew, and his wife Shirley A. Hayden (Ashland, MA) and their children Derin A. Sherman (Cedar Rapids, IA) and his children Cassandra and Cameron, Arloc Sherman and his wife Anne Theisen (Washington, DC) and their son Darrow, and Tay A. Sherman Parker and her husband Jonathan Parker (Murrietta, CA) and their sons Emerset and Orison; Sallie Sherman Lloyd, niece, and her husband Bruce M. Lloyd (Yardley,PA) and their children, Karen E. Lloyd (Brooklyn, NY) and Daniel B. Lloyd (Seattle, WA); and Marilyn Sherman Kitler, niece, and her husband James H. Kitler (Bar Harbor, ME) and their sons Nathan H. Kitler and his wife Susannah E. Hayes Kitler (Arlington, MA) and William Sherman Kitler (Bar Harbor, ME). Surviving from the Feiker Family: Carol F. Wetherbee, niece, (New York, NY) and her sons, Richard E. Wetherbee and his wife Renee Ducker (St. Louis, MO) and their sons Grant and Elias and Christian F. Wetherbee and his wife Christina Wetherbee (Morristown, NJ) and their children Anna and Ian; George Feiker, nephew, and his wife Kim Feiker (Alburg, VT) and their daughters, Amy F. Hollenbeck and her husband Brian Hollenbeck (Evanston, IL) and their daughters Sophie and Julia, and Elizabeth F. Harrison and her husband Stephen Harrison (Reading, MA) and their son Wyatt; and Nancy F. Parry, niece, and her husband William T. Perry (Rexford, NY), and her daughter Erica Szpylczyn (Tucson, AZ).
A private family funeral and reception is planned.
