Simsbury Obituary: Karen Newman, 68

Karen Lenz Newman, 68, of Granby, beloved wife of Gerard A. “Rod” Kaufmann, died Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Governors House in Simsbury.

She was born February 2, 1950 in Sewickley, PA, daughter of the late Thomas Wilber and Catherine (Weisner) Lenz and had lived in Granby for many years. She was a graduate of Colorado State University, having received her Bachelors Degree in Education. Ms. Newman was a Student Aide at Trinity College for many years and worked for the Bloomfield Board of Education. Karen enjoyed tennis and was an avid runner.

In addition to her husband Rod, she is survived by her children, Andy Newman and his wife Stacy, Dan Newman and his wife Nicolina, Kim Kaufmann, and Sheri Kaufmann and her husband Adam Winkler; her sister, Sheila Laing and her husband Jim; her brothers, Jeff Lenz, and Tom Lenz and his wife Sheila; her grandchildren, Jack and Charlie Newman, Ava and Henry Newman and Max and Gabo Winkler and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.
