Simsbury Obituary: Patricia Jennings, 85

Patricia (Holland) Jennings, 85, of Simsbury, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her children.

Born in Montpelier, VT to James Carroll and Mary (Conlin) Holland, Patty attended Saint Michael’s Catholic School for 12 years and graduated with the Class of 1948. She married her classmate, James Jennings, who she met in second grade, and they raised five children together in Suffield, where they lived for 25 years.

Patty obtained her R.N. degree in her 40’s and worked at the Hebrew Home and Mount Sinai Hospital. While living in Richmond, VT, she worked for the Vermont State Hospital as head psychiatric nurse. Patty was very actively involved in Right to Life, the St. Ann Club, NAMI-Vermont, and Rosary Societies in her parishes in Connecticut and Vermont.

In addition to her parents, Patty was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, James Jennings; her brother, John Patrick Holland; and her son, Michael Jennings. She is survived by her children, Mark Jennings and his wife Deborah of Providence, RI, Anne Soucy and her husband Scott of Granby, Thomas Jennings of Springfield, VT, and Mary Hoyt and her husband Jack of Encino, CA; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Jennings and her husband David Fresk of Glastonbury; seven grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and fifteen nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, January 2, 9-10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church, 942 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Hardwick, VT at the convenience of the family.
