Robert W. Burns Sr., 92, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA.
He was born in Hartford, the son of James and Anna (Hendsey) Burns. He spent his formative years on the family farm in East Granby. He attended secondary school in Simsbury. Bob was extremely fond of dancing and met his wife, Martha (Powers) Burns at a dance. They were married 64 years and raised their three children in East Granby. Later they resided for 22 years in Riverton with their son. The last years of his life, they lived in New Lebanon, NY with his daughter and family gazing out amongst his "peaceful valley".
Bob was a "jack of all trades". He was employed at Hamilton Standard, American Propane, Fusco Brothers and Imperial nurseries. His greatest accomplishment was raising his children as a full-time stay at home father. Bob had an innate love of nature and wildlife which he imparted to his son, Robert Jr. He enjoyed horse draws and often served as a team driver.
