Simsbury To Open Cooling Center On Friday Due To Extreme Heat
Simsbury will open a cooling center Friday and offer free pool admission for residents 65 and older through July 5 amid high temperatures.
SIMSBURY, CT — The Town of Simsbury will open a cooling center Friday and offer free admission to the Simsbury Farms Pool for older residents as high temperatures continue through the Independence Day weekend.
The Friends of the Library Program Room at the Simsbury Public Library, 725 Hopmeadow St., will serve as a cooling center on Friday, July 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bottled water will be available for those using the facility.
In addition, Simsbury residents age 65 and older will receive free admission to the Simsbury Farms Pool during designated hours over the holiday weekend.

The free admission schedule is:
- Friday, July 3: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Saturday, July 4: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sunday, July 5: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Town officials noted that pool hours may change because of inclement weather. Residents are encouraged to check the Simsbury Parks and Recreation website for weather-related closures before visiting.
